The Quran is characterized by a unique mathematical phenomenon never found in any other book. Every element of the Quran is mathematically composed — the chapters (called suras), the verses, the words, the number of certain letters, the number of words from the same root, the number and variety of divine names, the unique spelling of certain words, the absence or deliberate alteration of certain letters within certain words, and many other elements of the Quran besides its content.

There are two major facets of the Quran's mathematical system:

  • The mathematical literary composition, and

  • The mathematical structure involving the numbers of chapters (suras) and verses.

Because of this comprehensive mathematical coding, the slightest distortion of the Quran's text or physical arrangement is immediately exposed.

Nineteen (19) is the common denominator throughout the Quran’s mathematical system. A plethora of scientific findings have now shown that the number 19 represents God's signature upon certain creations. This divine stamp appears throughout the universe in much the same manner as the signature of Michelangelo and Picasso identify their works. For example:

1. The sun, the moon, and the earth become aligned in the same relative positions once every 19 years (see ENCYCLOPEDIA JUDAICA under "Calendar").

2. Halley's comet, a profound Heavenly phenomenon, visits our solar system every 76 years, 19x4.

3. God's stamp on you and me is manifested in the fact that the human body contains 209 bones, 19x11

Like the Quran itself, Quran’s mathematical coding ranges from very simple to very complex. The simple facts about the Quranic mathematical code of 19 are those observations that can be ascertained by anyone without using any specific tools. Here a few of such physical facts from Quran:

Fact #1:

The first verse of Quran (1:1), known as “Basmalah,” consists of 19 letters (Basmalah: image with letters marked)

Fact #2:

The longest chapter in the Quran is Chapter 2 named ‘Al-Baqarah’ (meaning Heifer), it contains 286 verses. The shortest chapter in the Quran is Chapter 108, named ‘Al-Kawthar’ (meaning bounty), it contains 3 verses. Writing verses of the longest and the shortest chapters: 286 & 3 = 2 + 8 + 6 + 3, we get exactly 19 (which is 19 x 1).

Fact #3:

First chapter of Quran is named ‘Al-Fatihah’ (meaning the Key), it contains 7 verses. The last chapter of Quran, Chapter 114, is named ‘Al-Naas’ (meaning the people), it contains 6 verses. Writing verses of the first and the last chapters as 7 & 6 = 76, which is multiple of 19 (19 x 4).

Fact #4

The last three chapters of Quran, Chapter 112, 113 and 114 start with the word ‘Proclaim’ (‘Qul’ in Arabic). They contain 4, 5 and 6 verses, respectively. Writing verses for these chapters next to each other, we get 456, which is multiple of 19 (19 x 24).
Fact #5

The Quran consists of 114 chapters, which is 19 x 6.

Each chapter of Quran start with opening statement Basmalah (Basmalah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim), which translates: In the name of God, the most Gracious, the most Merciful’. Interestingly, Chapter 9 doesn’t have Basmalah at the start. Note that The Basmalah occurs 114 times, despite its conspicuous absence from Chapter 9 (it occurs twice in Chapter 27) & 114 is 19x6.

Fact #6

From the missing Basmalah of Chapter 9 to the extra Basmalah of Chapter 27, there are precisely 19 chapters.

Fact #7

The total of Chapter numbers from 9 to 27 (9+10+11+12+…+26+27) is 342 which is 19 x 18

Fact #8

This total (342) also equals the number of words between the two Basmalahs of Chapter 27, and 342 is 19 x 18

Fact #9

The famous first chronological revelation of Quran occurs in Chapter 96 (96:1-5) consists of 19 words.

Fact #10

This 19-worded first chronological revelation consists of 76 letters which is 19 x 4

Fact #11

Chapter 96, the first in the chronological sequence, consists of 19 verses.

Fact #12

This first chronological chapter (chapter 96) is placed atop of the last 19 chapters.

Fact #13

Chapter 96 consists of 304 Arabic letters, and 304 equals 19 x 16.

Fact #14

The last chronological revelation (Chapter 110) consists of 19 words.

Fact #15

The first verse of the last chronological revelation (110:1) consists of 19 letters.

Fact #16

14 different Arabic letters, form 14 different sets of “Quranic Initials” (such as A.L.M. of 2:1), and prefix 29 chapters. These numbers 14, 14 & 29 add up to 14+14+29 = 57 which is 19 x 3.

Fact #17

The total of the 29-chapter numbers where the Quranic Initials occur is 2+3+7+…+50+68 = 822, and 822+14 (14 sets of initials) equals 836 or 19 x 44.

Fact #18

Between the first initialed chapter (Chapter 2) and the last initialed chapter (Chapter 68) there are 38 un-initialed chapters 19 x 2.

Fact #19

Between the first and last initialed chapter there are 19 sets of alternating “initialed” and “un-initialed” chapters.

Fact #20

The Quran mentions 30 different numbers, these are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 99, 100, 200, 300, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000, 50,000, & 100,000. The sum of these numbers is 162,146, which equals 19x8534.

Fact #21

By counting the letter “Q” in every “Verse 19” throughout the Quran, the total count comes to 76, 19×4. Here is a summary of the Q-related data
