God's divine attributes
GOD EXISTS
Quran refers to God's most beautiful names or attributes (as ‘Asma al-Husna’) in Chapters 7 and 59. There are a large number of names or attributes of God mentioned or implied, however, 99 of them are universally recognized in the Muslim world. It does not necessarily mean that God has only 99 attributes, however, it only means that these are commonly known and recognized as God's attributes from Quran.
One of the most commonly known subjects in Muslim world is the attributes or names of God (Allah). Quran refers to God's most beautiful names or attributes (as ‘Asma al-Husna’) in Chapters 7 and 59. There are a large number of names or attributes of God mentioned or implied, however, 99 of them are universally recognized in the Muslim world. These names serve as a mosaic of God’s infinite attributes, each one of them reflect a unique quality of the Creator that resonates well with the human experience. God mentioned about His names and attributes explicitly in the Quran:
To GOD belongs the most beautiful names; call upon Him therewith, and disregard those who distort His names. They will be requited for their sins. (Quran 7:180)
He is the One GOD; there is no other God besides Him. Knower of all secrets and declarations. He is the Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
He is the One GOD; there is no other God besides Him. The King, the Most Sacred, the Peace, the Most Faithful, the Supreme, the Almighty, the Most Powerful, the Most Dignified. GOD be glorified; far above having partners.
He is the One GOD; the Creator, the Initiator, the Designer. To Him belong the most beautiful names. Glorifying Him is everything in the Heavens and the earth. He is the Almighty, Most Wise. (Quran 59:22 through 24)
99 names of God, with their meanings, gematrical values and Quranic references are tabulated in the table below:
It is interesting to note that if we add gematric values of these 99 names, the result is 33805, a very large number, which reduces (3+3+8+0+5) exactly to 19. This cannot be a coincidence with such a large number of names or attributes associated with God; praise be to God!
